Patch 9.24 is rolling out in a couple of days, which is why our team’s here to give you a rundown on the upcoming additions and changes to the game. What this patch lacks in buffs and nerfs, it more than makes up for with a ton of new content. Let’s start with the biggest addition to the game this patch – our new champ, Aphelios
New Champion – Aphelios, the Weapon of the Faithful
Riot will release what is perhaps the most interesting champion to date. Aphelios is a marksman with a unique mechanic that affects not just his gameplay, but also the UI.
Passive – The Hitman and The Seer
Aphelios has five weapons, but he can only have two of those equipped at the same time
The first weapon acts as the primary weapon, which determines his basic attack, passive, and Q
Aphelios can switch to his second(ary) weapon to change his basic attack, Q, and R
The three remaining weapons are “reserved” in a set order.
Each weapon only has 50 Moonlight, which is basically ammo. Moonlight are consumed every time Aphelios performs a basic attack or casts Q for the active weapon. Once a weapon’s moonlight is depleted, it is automatically replaced by the next “reserve” weapon, and it goes back to the end of the reserve line. The secondary weapon stays equipped and ready for swapping, so you have some degree of control over which weapons will cycle first.
Aphelios starts out with his Q and W already available, but he doesn’t have an E ability. Instead, the UI skill slot for the third ability is replaced by a small indicator showing which reserve weapon is next in the cycle. This gives him a unique interface as shown here:
Primary weapon (with remaining moonlight before it is cycled out)
Q – changes depending on primary weapon
W – secondary weapon (also with remaining moonlight)
The next “reserve” weapon
Ultimate – also changes depending on primary weapon
Aphelios automatically gets his ultimate at level 6 and levels it up at 11 and 16. Instead of enhancing his Q and W, Aphelios uses skill points to get permanentl bonuses to his attack damage, attack speed, and armor penetration.
Still with us? This time, we’ll take a brief look at what each weapon can do so you know how to properly maximize them.
Calibrum – The Sniper Rifle (Poke and Harassment)
Calibrum’s basic attacks have extra range
Precision marks targets hit by any of Aphelios’ abilities, leaving them open for an empowered basic attack from his other equipped weapon
Moonshot (Q) is a long-ranged skillshot with a narrow hitbox
Severum – The Scythe Pistol (Sustain and DPS)
Severum’s basic attacks do not count as projectiles and heal for a portion of the damage dealt. Excess healing is converted into shields.
Onslaught (Q) briefly speeds up Aphelios’ movespeed and lets him perform up to 6 basic attacks while the ability is active, alternating between Severum and the off-hand weapon
Gravitum – The Gravity Cannon (Crowd Control)
Gravitum’s basic attacks have a decaying slow effect for several seconds
Eclipse (Q) damages and roots all enemies that are currently slowed by Gravitum
Infernum – The Flamethrower (AoE)
Infernum’s basic attacks damage other enemies in a cone-shaped area behind the initial target.
Duskwave (Q) deals damage in a cone-shaped area. Enemies caught in the area are further hit by a basic attack from Aphelios’ off-hand weapon.
Crescendum – The Chakram (Close-range DPS)
Crescendum’s basic attack throws a boomerang. Aphelios can’t attack again until the boomerang has returned to him.
Attack speed bonuses speed up the boomerang’s flight.
Attacking closer targets reduces the boomerang’s flight time, allowing Aphelios to attack faster.
When Aphelios uses an ability that allows him to throw Crescendum, he instead creates an extra chakram that can be thrown and reset independently.
Aphelios can have up to 20 chakrams. Each chakram lasts only five seconds, but its lifetime resets when used for attacking.
Sentry (Q) deploys a turret that uses the current off-hand weapon
Ultimate (R) – Moonlight Vigil
Moonlight Vigil is an AoE skill shot that illuminates the first champion it hits and deals damage in a large area, centered on the illuminated enemy.
After a short delay, each enemy damaged by Moonlight Vigil is struck by a basic attack matching Aphelios’ current primary weapon, applying the following effects:
Calibrum – marks the enemy (same as regular Calibrum passive)
Severum – heals Aphelios for a flat amount
Gravitum – slows enemies by 99% for a few seconds
Infernum – creates a circular AoE that damages surrounding units
Crescendum – four chakrams return to Aphelios plus one more for each enemy hit by Moonlight Vigil

This patch also brings a handful of tweaks to some of the older champions.
Five Point Strike
Bonus percent damage to minions reduced from 35% to 25%
Cooldown reduced from 12/11/10/9/8 seconds to 10/9.5/9/8.5/8 seconds
HP per level increased from 87 to 98
HP regeneration per 5 seconds increased from 8 to 8.5
Damage increased from 60/105/150/195/240 to 60/110/160/210/260
Stand Behind Me
Cooldown lowered from 14/13/12/11/10 seconds to 12/11/10/9/8 seconds
Mana cost reduced from 50/55/60/65/70 to 40 at all ranks
Armor and MR bonus to target ally changed from 10-26 +10-16% of Braum’s bonus armor/mr to 10-26 +12%
Armor and MR granted to Braum changed from [10-26 +10-16% of Braum’s bonus armor/mr to 10-26 +36%
Damage increased from 150/250/350 to 150/300/450
New effect – The first target is knocked up for between 0.25 and 1/1.25/1.5 seconds depending on the distance from Braum. Other targets hit by glacial fissure are knocked up for 0.25 seconds.
Diana is currently undergoing a massive rework (as seen here), but some of the changes will be implemented in patch 9.24
Mana increased from 372 to 420
Mana per level increased from 20 to 25
Base AD increased from 53.04 to 57.04
New effect – Diana gains 10/15/20/25/30/35/40% at 1/3/6/9/12/15/18 bonus attack speed. After casting a spell, the bonus is tripled for 3 seconds.
3-hit passive no longer restores mana
Mana cost lowered from 40/55/70/85/100 to 40/45/50/55/60
Reassigned to E (Swapped with Moonfall)
Mana cost: 40/45/50/55/60
Cooldown: 22/20/18/16/14 seconds
Damage: 40/60/80/100/120 (+40% AP) magic damage
Reassigned to R (Swapped with Lunar Rush)
Mana cost: 100
Cooldown: 100/90/80 seconds
Slow: 40/50/60% for 2 seconds
New effect – If Diana pulls one or more enemy champions, Moonfall deals 200/300/400 (+60% AP) magic damage in an area around her, increased by 35/60/85 (+15% AP) for each target beyond the first champion pulled.
Base HP increased from 491 to 500
Base Mana increased from 360.6 to 375
Mana regeneration per 5 seconds increased from 8.42 to 8.5
Damage increased from 15/40/65/90/115 to 20/45/70/95/120
Number of spins changed from 7 + 1 per 20% Attack speed to 7 + 1 per 25% Attack Speed

Bugfix – Allied Bards can no longer kill souls with Q
Damage reduced from (50/80/110/140/170 (+50% bonus AD) to 40/70/100/130/160 (+40% bonus AD)
Root duration changed from 1.45/1.65/1.85/2.05/2.25 seconds to 1.25/1.5/1.75/2/2.25 seconds
Damage AP ratio increased from 40% to 50%
Shield AP ratio increased from 40% to 50%
Bop and Block
Shield increased from 50-300 (based on level) to 50-390 (based on level)
Now restores 50-160 mana (based on level)
Mana cost increased from 75/80/85/90/95/100 to 85/90/95/100/105/110
Damage AP ratio reduced from 45% to 30%
Empowered damage increased from 50/85/120/155/190/225 (+65% AP) to 50/95/140/185/230/275 (+40% AP)
Projectile duration lowered from 3 seconds to 2 seconds
You and Me!
Flat adaptive force increased from 5/7/9/11/13 to 12/14/16/18/20
Percent Adaptive force increased from 4/7/10/13/16% to 12/14/16/18/20%
Immobilizing effects on Yuumi now puts You and Me! on a 5-second cooldown
You and Me! now has a .25 second interruptible channel time
No longer has charges
Cooldown changed to 12/11/10/9/8 seconds
Mana cost increased from 30/40/50/60/70 to 100/115/130/145/160
Duration increased from 2 seconds to 3 seconds
Movement speed bonus reduced from 25% to 15%
Movement speed no longer decays
Heal AP increased from 10% to 30%
Minimum heal increased from 30/40/50/60/70 to 70/110/150/190/230
No longer does increased healing based on missing health
Now gives 25/30/35/40/45% bonus attack speed
Base AD increased from 61 to 63
Rune and Item Changes
Ranged healing reduced from 15% to 8% damage dealt to champions
Stack duration reduced from 8 seconds to 6 seconds
“smart” logic implemented (as explained here), which means you are more likely to get keystones based on certain conditions.
Changes already hotfixed to live servers last November 21
Total cost increased from 3,000 to 3,100 gold
Combine cost (recipe) increased from 1,000 to 1,100 gold
Blood Pursuit attack speed lowered from 40-100% to 10-80%
