Pokemon Quest Recipes

Published by Michael on Feb 1st 2023

Are you ready to catch them all, again? Released in 2018, Pokemon Quest significantly varies from other entries in the now nearly 30-year-old franchise – mainly thanks to its voxel-based graphical style. But don’t worry, the gameplay loop remains as addictive as ever.

If you’re new to the world of Pokemon Quest, you’re probably very confused by the recipes system. Below we’ll try to shed some light on how it works.

Also, don’t forget to check our tier lists on the best Pokemon (there, you can also create & share your own lists too).

Pokemon – Tier Lists.

Simple Recipes in Pokemon Quest

Overall, there are 18 dishes you can make to attract new pokemon. You simply put relevant ingredients in each of the 5 slots. Ok, let’s get to know these recipes:

  • Mulligan Stew – any combination of ingredients (that doesn’t meet the requirements of other recipes). Example: x2 Tiny Mushroom and x3 Fossil. Attracts normal-type pokemon (like Rattata).
  • Red Stew – any combination of at least x4 slots filled with red ingredients. Examples: x5 Big Root or x4 Tiny Mushroom & x1 Balm Mushroom. Attracts red pokemon (like Charmander or Voltorb).
  • Blue Soda – any combination of at least x4 blue ingredients. Examples: x5 Bulk Berry or x4 Icy Rock & x1 Balm Mushroom. Attracts blue pokemon (like Squirtle or Ditto).
  • Yellow Curry – any combination of at least x4 yellow ingredients. Examples: x1 Big Root & 4x Apricorn or x4 Honey & x1 Big Root. Attracts yellow pokemon (like Pikachu or Meowth).
  • Grey Porridge – any combination of at least x4 grey ingredients. Examples: x2 Balm Mushroom, x2 Fossil & x1 Icy Rock or x4 Balm Mushroom & x1 Icy Rock. Attracts grey pokemon (like Jigglypuff or Gastly).

How Recipes Work in Pokemon Quest

Ok, now let’s move on to recipes focused on more straightforward types of pokemon. Each of the ingredients has specific traits. For example, Tiny Mushroom is not only ‘red’ and ‘small’, but also belongs to the family of ‘mushrooms’, which gives it ‘soft’ properties.

In the in-game cooking menu, Watt a Risotto’s description reads:

“Ingredients: A whole lot of soft things and a lot of yellow [things].”

‘A whole lot’ means 4 slots, ‘a lot’ indicates 3 slots, ‘a few’ 2 slots, and ‘a little’ – yup, simply 1 slot. So, to prepare Watt a Risotto you need a combination like x2 Tiny Mushrooms (that are ‘soft’), x1 Apricorn (that is ‘yellow’, but not ‘soft’), and x2 Honey (it’s both ‘soft’ and ‘yellow’). This mixture consists of 4 ‘soft’ things and 3 ‘yellow’ ones.
